The Sternia and historic lanes of Canelli, a short walk from the Refuge.
Begin at the Refuge

A place best explored slowly.

The Refuge sits in historic Canelli near the Sternia quarter, a natural starting point for exploring the town.

The Underground Cathedrals

Kilometres of tuff tunnels run beneath Canelli and are still used by historic sparkling-wine houses. Tours depend on each cellar’s opening days and availability, so advance booking is recommended.

The Sternia and old town

The historic lane climbs towards the castle area through small squares and viewpoints. It is the most natural walk from the Refuge.

The Monferrato hills

Vineyards, villages, local producers and restaurants surround Canelli. A car or e-bike makes it easy to extend the itinerary.

Always confirm current opening times directly with wineries, restaurants and attractions before visiting.

Let Canelli surprise you.
